8 Key looks in Home Furnishings for 2012

With Tens of Thousands of new products making their debut at this year’s High Point Market, the style spectrum covers every category from classic to cutting edge. I’m going to endeavor to select my favorite innovative trends to share with you.

1. Dare to Dream

   Designers are taking “cocooning” to a whole new level. Shelter beds are back. T ufting makes upholstered headboards more luxurious.

2. 60’s Vibe

   Space age-shaped seating is reminiscent of the Jetsons. Color blocks are cool, especially in draperies. Orange is hot. Teal is in again.

3. Lavish Laquer

   Heavily lacquered pieces shine in strong hues, especially deep blues and rich reds. Upholstered seating is accented with colored wood trim. An elegant sheen appears on walls, as well.

4. Passage to India

   The next sphere of influence on a global scale will be India – or so says Vogue. The exotic peacock motif along with sari and henna patterns are everywhere. Elephants are big!

5. Going for Gold

   Gold is shining from accessories to furnishings. Metallic upholstery fabrics castes an elegant glow . This trend sheds light on Venetian inspired patterns that are emerging on the fashion scene.

6. Gray is the New Neutral

   Not only for walls, but also on upholstery and case goods. An addition of a washed gray buffet in the foyer will update the dark woods that were popular in previous years.

7. Bring the Outdoors In

   With many fashion-forward outdoor furniture lines, you can change the cushions and bring them inside in the off-season. Park benches offer a fresh solution for additional seating.

8. New Dimensions

   Folds are incorporated into clean contemporary furniture designs. Brush strokes add depth to fabric designs as well as to wall art.
