In this article, experts Lauren Tassoni from Avanté Salon and Spa at Bradford Plaza in West Chester and Paige Walton from Avanté on Main Street in Exton answer questions about their careers and motivation.

Lauren Tassoni

Lauren Tassoni grew up in Phoenixville, gleefully cutting Barbies’ hair and sneaking into her mother’s makeup. Her childhood pastimes led her to the Pulse Beauty Academy after high shcool and to Avante, where she has been a professional behind the chair for two years.

Why did you choose the beauty industry?

Growing up vivacious and artistic, I’ve always wanted to express myself in a creative medium. Joining the beauty industry was the best decision I    have ever made.

What motivates you?

I enjoy helping people find their own style and bringing out their confidence. It makes my day when people tell me they love their new look. It gets me really excited!

What celebrity you would love to style, and why?

I would love to style the talented recording artist Rihanna. She is always changing her look and never seems scared to push the envelope. I would love to see what we could come up with together.

Do you have a personal philosophy to share with readers?

Confidence is key! Just be yourself and you’ll become a success. Never be afraid to ask questions. You’ll learn more in the long run.

Paige Walton

Paige Walton attended Pulse Beauty Academy and stays up-to-date with trends by attending classes and seminars. In her work, she has a detailed touch and a passion for color. As a professional photographer and graphic artist, Paige brings her keen eye for light, color and texture to her
expertise in hair styling.

Why did you choose the beauty industry?

I have had a passion for styling hair since I was a child. When I was 12 years old, I did my first “perm” on a friend’s hair in my father’s basement! In my thirties, I exchanged my 15-year career in the
graphic arts industry for a career in hair styling.

What motivates you?

Art. Everything I see has an artistic quality. Ordinary objects, colors in nature, and pages in magazines or photo books lead me to new ideas that I transform into styles for my sisters, friends and me. If they work well, I share them with clients in my chair.

What celebrity you would love to style, and why?

Victoria Beckham, the English singer-songwriter, dancer and designer. She always has amazing hairstyles and cuts and seems to pull off her glamour effortlessly.

Do you have a personal philosophy to share with readers?

Don’t get discouraged. Don’t give up. There are no mistakes, only discoveries!
